Check the data in an MRZ
Enter the two machine-readable lines. Your device recalculates their check digits and derives whether the entered birthdate is 18 or older and the entered nationality. This does not verify the document, its chip, its holder or a live person.

1. Use the camera as a reading aid
The camera is off until you start it. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.
2. The two MRZ lines
The machine-readable zone is the two long lines of letters, numbers and < at the bottom of the photo page. Read them off and enter them (44 characters each). Automatic reading is coming; for now you confirm them, and the check digits catch any mistake.
3. Seal the derived claims
- What the check digits do. They detect many typing and reading errors in the MRZ data. Passing them means the entered characters are internally consistent.
- What they do not do. They do not prove that a passport exists, is authentic, belongs to the user or was read from its chip. The separate browser presence result is also not bound to a passport.
- What is sealed. Only age_over_18 and nationality derived from the entered lines. The issuer receives the MRZ lines to recalculate those claims, but does not store them in the credential.
